My Weekly Ivan Check-In

My first program with Ivan was the 10-Week Trim Down - it included weekly recorded check-ins. First thing Monday morning, before work, I’d upload my weekly stats into the app: body measurements, pictures, and training notes to let Ivan know how the week went, how I was feeling, and any important notes (i.e. travel/scheduling) for the upcoming week. Then I’d wait. Excitedly. For the tell-tale ping notifying me that Ivan had responded.

When the recording came, I’d typically grab my afternoon snack and head into a conference room, or someplace quiet where I could watch/listen. For me, Ivan would start with a review of the work-outs completed, noting where I seemed more enthusiastic (cardio, always cardio) and where I was dragging (gym, always the gym). He’d give a few ideas about how to enjoy my time in the gym more (eventually, I started to!) and give me a heads up on any new activities I’d see in my queue for the following week. After that, he’d move on to a quick review of my weekly macros, diving deep into a few days to check out my protein/carb/fat sources and give a bit more guidance. Finally he’d look at my progress photos and stats. Instead of making me feel like my body was being scrutinized from every angle, Ivan’s review of my photos made me feel like a super model. He’d point out small changes that I didn’t notice, like more muscle definition in my legs, or more defined abs, always detailing the exercises that were driving progress. Reviewing my measurements, Ivan would call out the areas where we’d want to continue seeing changes (i.e. thighs, biceps) vs. where we needed to start seeing week on week consistency (i.e. waist, hips). Last, but not least, Ivan would look at my notes to make sure he addressed all of my questions and weekly notes.

At the end of the recording, I am always left feeling energized, enthusiastic, and excited about my progress towards my goals. While I know that Ivan has a full roster of training clients, his check-ins always make me feel like I’m his first priority and I can hear the investment he’s making in my progress. Over time, these videos have become my favourite part of my week and I find myself looking forward to them every Monday.
